Gardner Spencer Smith Tench & Jarbeau, P.C. was founded in 1983 as Gardner Spencer Associates. Founding partners, Joe Gardner and Les Spencer, have a professional relationship that began in the early 1970’s while classmates at Georgia Tech. Ownership was expanded internally to include Randy Smith, David Tench, and most recently, Keith Solomon, all currently full partners in the firm.

Initially serving local commercial accounts, the practice now includes a diverse mix of public and private institutional clients located throughout the Southeast. Specializations have emerged through extensive project experience involving higher education facilities, K-12 schools, libraries, performing arts facilities, institutional/government facilities, banking/financial facilities, renovations/additions, needs assessment, and worship facilities.

The philosophy of any firm is rooted in the creative ability and dedication of its staff in service to their clients. Creativity is best served by diversity in challenges. It is through the variety of projects that we maintain the level of energy that makes quality design solutions possible.

Dedication to our clients’ needs has many rewards. First and foremost, we gain satisfaction in realizing the goals of our clients. Enhancement of existing buildings, the creation of real estate value through signature designs, and the quality connection of uses and spaces are just a few ways we strive to serve our clientele. Secondly, we find our personal rewards in creative solutions. This stems from the desire to overcome design obstacles using the breadth of construction knowledge that comes with experience.
